Do Nexiant Smart Inventory® Solutions integrate with existing Supply Chain solutions?
Nexiant Smart Inventory Solutions communicate information to ERP, eProcurement, WMS, and purchasing software systems. Nexiant interfaces with most major enterprise applications and custom interfaces can be developed based on unique customer needs.
How do system managers access data and information to administer Smart Inventory Solutions?
Nexiant hosts the data center for all transactions. System Managers access the data over the Internet using Nexiant Smart Inventory® Manager (SIM) through an intuitive, easy-to-use interface or by scheduled email updates.
Can you report, configure and manage inventory and tools from the web with Nexiant?
System Managers and other Nexiant users have multiple tools to manage the data as well as the health of the system from any web-enabled device including a desktops, laptops and PDAs — any device with Internet access from anywhere in the world.
Can Nexiant make use of web-enabled devices as inventory solutions?
In addition to traditional desktop/laptop PCs and PDAs, Nexiant users can access inventory levels and item locations from WAP enabled cell phones.
Can Nexiant SIM users customize reports for their needs?
Each Nexiant report has multiple parameters to get you the specific information you need to monitor and manage your inventory. Users can manage, modify and arrange the reporting fields as necessary to produce the table views they want. Additionally, Nexiant continuously adds and develops new and custom reports to help our customers solve inventory management problems.
In what formats can SIM generate reports?
Users can generate SIM reports in PDF (Adobe), Excel, RTF (Word), HTML, and text formats. The Excel version is particularly powerful allowing users to perform additional analysis with the standard tools already built into Microsoft Excel.
Can Nexiant reports be scheduled and then emailed to a distribution group? What if the schedule changes?
End users can create scheduled reports on the fly and change both the report format and schedule at any time.
How many users can access SIM at any one time?
The number is unlimited.
Can you run JIT or VMI programs with suppliers using Nexiant Smart Inventory Solutions?
SIM communicates with external systems using cXML, XML, EDI and many other standard formats. Not only does SIM communicate restock lists, the synchronized restock capability lets you accurately monitor the service you receive from your suppliers.
What determines how and when restocks occur?
SIM generates restock lists based on Par (Max), Reorder (Min), Critical Low levels, and on order status. Restocks, like reports, can be scheduled to meet the needs of your business. Multiple restock requests can run simultaneously for multiple vendors to supply the same inventory location. SIM also lets you build restock routes to optimize delivery routes by inventory location.
How does Nexiant handle items with indeterminate lead times (back-order items)?
SIM manages back order items with its built-in Accumulated Restock feature. For items with indeterminate lead times, this feature allows additional reordering to occur while items are on order without forcing “fill or kill” and thereby complicate the purchasing process and supplier relationships.
What kind of inventory can Nexiant Smart Inventory Solutions accommodate?
Current inventory solutions support the management of MRO consumables, tools, movable assets, critical spares and direct materials.
Can Nexiant manage products in temperature or climate controlled areas?
Yes, Nexiant has experience installing and managing systems in refrigerated and sub-freezing environments.
Does Nexiant have a method to find items system wide?
Yes. With Smart Inventory Manager (SIM) users have a built-in fast drill down feature to locate shortage items across the system. With only a couple of mouse clicks you instantly find the item you need. Users of any web-enabled device, including cell phones can achieve the same result with Nexiant.
Can Nexiant Point- of-Use automation manage inventory from multiple suppliers?
Yes. SIM can manage items from multiple suppliers at each inventory location.
Do Nexiant solutions offer controls to track transactions to specific job codes or internal departments?
Yes. With Nexiant, transactions are tracked by user, by account, by job, by department, or by user’s department. To provide added security, users are issued passwords to further control the dispensing process. These controls are configured at the time of installation and can be modified at any time as your needs change.
Do Nexiant solutions generate significant amounts of network traffic?
The traffic generated is kept to a minimum since the sizes of the transaction data packets are very small.
If the communication between the cabinet and the SIM occurs via HTTP, how is the data protected since it is transmitted in plain text?
Data Security is one of Nexiant’s greatest strengths. Confidentiality and security of data transmitted is ensured through the use of SSL encryption at both the cabinet and in SIM.
How does Nexiant protect against “data theft” and/or interception of data?
The use of SSL encryption resolves this issue. Even if the data were intercepted, the data that they would see would be meaningless to them without the proper de-encryption key.
How does the Nexiant handle issues of timing and connection failures?
Communication frequency is fully configurable so that the number of times that the connection can be attempted is controlled. Additionally, the polling interval can be set to minimize the traffic on a customer’s LAN while maintaining accurate, updated inventory information.
